ISLAMABAD: The Islamabad district administration has issued a one-year performance report, claiming that it took thousands of actions and addressed a number of issues in the federal capital.
According to a statement, the excise department deposited Rs20.66 billion into the government treasury over the past year.
The report, covering actions from July 1, 2024, to June 24, 2025, highlights major actions and achievements.
Action was taken against 3,431 shopkeepers for overpricing. As many as 1,933 shopkeepers faced various punishments, while fines were imposed on 2,491 shopkeepers, the report said.
During a drive against beggars, 2,213 professional beggars were arrested in Islamabad. Similarly, the district administration continued action against the illegal sale of petroleum and LPG, it added. A total of 100 shops were sealed, and 101 cases were registered.
While environmental issues in the city have been increasing, five brick kilns causing environmental pollution were sealed over the past year.
Similarly, 156 individuals were arrested for violating the ban on wall chalking.
Action was also taken at 315 locations where dengue larvae were found.
Over the past year, a total of 14,252 domiciles were issued by the district administration.
As sheesha cafes have been banned in Islamabad, 76 illegal indoor sheesha cafes were sealed. Additionally, 41 terrace permits were issued by various Assistant Commissioners.
The Islamabad Food Authority conducted inspections of 13,595 units and sealed 370 of them, the report claimed.
It imposed fines amounting to Rs330 million on 1,427 restaurants. Moreover, the food authority issued 2,513 food licenses. Over 97,000 units of hazardous food were disposed of during various operations.
The Islamabad Transport Authority collected a total of Rs1.2 million by issuing or renewing route permits.
The excise department deposited Rs8.54 billion into the national treasury through vehicle registrations. It collected Rs587 million under hotel fees, Rs4.23 billion under road tax and Rs489 million under excise duty. Overall, the department deposited Rs20.661 billion into the government treasury during the past year.
The industries department registered 1,135 partnership firms and 40 NGOs over the year. The Labour Welfare Department took action against 988 individuals for violations of labour laws and imposed fines totalling Rs3 million.
Moreover, the district administration launched a primary school for brick kiln workers’ children, with an enrolment of 200 students, in collaboration with the Brick Kiln Owners Association and the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
