SWABI: A man and his young son were shot dead allegedly by their relatives when they came out of a mosque after offering Friday prayers in Zarobi village of Topi tehsil here.

The Topi police station SHO Naeem Khan identified the deceased as Farooq Khan and his son, Kashif Khan.

They were attacked outside the Mohallah Shah Muhammadkhel mosque, he said, adding that the attackers escaped the area, leaving the man and his son dead on the spot. The firing caused panic and people came out of the mosque and ran for cover.

Rescue 1122 officials collected the bodies and shifted them to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital for autopsy.

SHO Naeem said that an FIR into the incident had not been registered, yet the initial information suggested that Kashif, who worked overseas, had clashed with his relatives over some issue in the UAE. He said that the attackers and the victims were relatives.
