LAKKI MARWAT: A murderer-cum-extortionist was killed in a shootout with police in Kot Kashmir area here on Thursday.

A police official said that after receiving credible information about presence of a proclaimed offender, Kaliullah, at his hideout in the rural locality, DPO Mohammad Jawad Ishaq dispatched a police party there with the directions to apprehend the outlaw at all costs.

He said the policemen reached the area and started laying a siege around the hideout and added that the wanted outlaw opened fire on them.

“In the ensuing gun battle, the PO was killed and later his body was found during search,” he claimed, adding that the law enforcers also seized an AK 47 assault rifle, three magazines and bullets from the place and later shifted the body to the District Headquarters Hospital located at Tajazai.

The official said that the outlaw was wanted by police in murder, attempted murder, extortion and other cases of heinous nature.
