TAXILA: A suspect involved in sexual assault and murder of a nine-year-old boy was killed in an encounter with Wah Cantonment police on Thursday, police claimed.

The boy’s body was found from fields in Shadman town area on July 20, 2022. The autopsy report revealed that the boy was molested before strangled to death.

The local police traced the suspect in Kashmir Colony area. When a police team raided his hideout, the suspect opened fire on the police team which was retaliated and the suspect killed in the exchange of fire.

Later the dead were identified as Rizwan Khan who was involved in child rape and murder case. His body was shifted to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital Taxila for an autopsy.

The police have launched a search for his two companions who fled.

Soon after the incident, senior police officers also rushed to the spot. A case was registered on behalf of the state against the fleeing suspects under section 302, 353 and 186 Pakistan Penal Code.

Revenue official arrested

The Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) arrested a revenue official in Jand during a sting operation, officials confirmed on Thursday.

The suspect was caught receiving the marked currency from a complainant, Mohammad Arshad Khan.

According to details, the complainant had submitted a written application to the Circle Officer, stating that he had filed a land partition claim in the court of the Tehsildar Jand on behalf of his mother in Mauza Nara.

He alleged that the reader had already taken Rs25, 000 for map approval and was now demanding an additional Rs20,000 to issue the required land certificate.

Robbers injure policeman

Armed robbers shot and injured a policeman in Hazro town of Attock on Thursday, police spokesman said.

Police sources said that head constable Abdul Rehman along with three other colleagues was on patrolling in Dhoke Syedan Jatial area when he observed three suspicious people and when he intercepted them, one of the suspects opened fire on him resultantly he received bullet injury.

Later the suspects managed to flee from the scene successfully.
