QUETTA: As many as 18 Levies personnel have been dismissed from service over alleged negligence during an attack by militants on a Levies station in Mastung on June 21.

According to an official statement issued on Monday, the Mastung deputy commissioner took notice of the performance of Levies personnel following an inquiry into the attack and decided to sack the negligent officials.

According to the statement, the Levies personnel on duty during the attack failed to carry out their responsibilities effectively.

Meanwhile, Balochistan Levies Director General Abdul Ghaffar Magsi visited the Kirdgab Levies station and held a meeting to assess the security situation. He also reviewed Levies performance in the area. Several key decisions were taken to strengthen law and order and improve operational readiness.

DG Magsi inspected the attendance and performance of the personnel present at the station and ordered further disciplinary action against those found responsible for negligence. He called the terrorist attack an unforgivable offense against the writ of the state.
