KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) on Monday issued a show-cause notice to the inquiry officer (IO) over his absence from the hearing of a case pertaining to the freezing of accounts of former president Dr Arif Alvi and his family members.
A two-judge constitutional bench headed by Justice K.K. Agha also issued a notice to the director general of the National Cyber Crime Investigation Agency (NCCIA).
Dr Alvi, his wife Samina Alvi and son Awab Alvi had approached the SHC seeking directives for the respondents to unfreeze their bank accounts.
At the last hearing, the SHC had allowed the ex-president to withdraw up to Rs1 million from one of his frozen bank accounts and had also summoned the IO to appear in person along with the relevant record on June 23. The court had directed the head of the NCCIA to ensure the IO’s presence.
