LAKKI MARWAT: Peshawar High Court Justice Tariq Afridi inaugurated an alternate dispute resolution centre in Bannu on Thursday.

The centre has been set up to enable the people, especially litigants, to settle their disputes and issues amicably with the help of lawyers and mediators.

The high court bar association president, secretary, members of bar council, additional advocate general and senior lawyers were present on the occasion.

Justice Tariq Afridi praised the judges for performing duties in southern districts despite deteriorating law and order situation.

He said he also reviewed the reports of judicial affairs in Bannu, Lakki Marwat, Karak and North Waziristan districts during a meeting with the judges of anti-terrorism court, district and sessions judges and senior civil judges of respective districts.

“Under the vision of chief justice, such reconciliation centres will be established at the session court level to promote alternate dispute resolution and reduce the backlog of cases,” he maintained.

He said the chief justice had emphasised the importance of adopting the ADR methods for dispute resolution.

He asked the judges to build ramps and special washrooms to facilitate disabled people who attended courts in connection with their cases.
