HYDERABAD: Provincial leadership of the Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl (JUI-F) has removed the district emir of the party for failing to make arrangements for the June 15 rally held in Hyderabad.
Such a letter of removal of Maulana Taj Mohammad Nahiyoon was issued by JUI-F general secretary Maulana Rashid Mehmood Soomro. He (Soomro) confirmed the issuance of the letter while talking to Dawn on Wednesday.
According to his letter, the district chapter was not supposed to spend a single penny on the rally. The district emir was only required to arrange 1,000 flags of the party and 500 of Palestine’s, which he failed to provide. Hardly 150 such flags could be seen at the venue, he said.
The district emir was also required to host media personnel from 4pm to 11pm, but even drinking water was not supplied to them. Similarly, the JUI-F’s volunteers known as ‘ansaars’ were to be hosted by the district chapter but they remained hungry till 11pm. Mr Soomro said he himself could hardly arrange food for the volunteers through provincial nazim Abdul Malik Talpur.
The JUI-F general secretary wrote he had personally requested the district emir a day before to provide diesel to the sound system operator and that the money spent to be reimbursed by him on arrival in Hyderabad, but it was not done despite repeated requests.
Finally, he said, he had to send someone from Karachi along with cash Rs200,000 as fuel cost. The local party leader was required to submit explanation within 15 days failing which further action would be taken against him.
Mr Soomro said the district emir had been holding that position for around five decades and even then he could not arrange a paltry amount for the party; it meant he should take rest and some new blood should be considered for the post.
He said it showed that if the party needed some urgent help for its workers, the district emir could not make some financial arrangements on a short notice and that for only a brief period.
