PESHAWAR: Five terrorists were killed in two separate encounters with security forces in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, the military’s media wing said on Monday.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) said in a statement that security forces carried an intelligence-based operation on reported presence of ‘Indian-sponsored’ terrorists in Peshawar.

“One of these four militants was the same person who, while carrying weapons in a vehicle, recorded a video in Punjab’s Gujrat district which also went viral on social media,” sources said, adding the militants were killed in an operation on Ring Road, on the outskirts of the provincial capital, on Sunday night.

In another operation in North Waziristan district, security forces neutralised one more terrorist after an exchange of fire.

Meanwhile, six soldiers were injured when their vehicle was targeted with an IED device on Lakki-Darra Tang road in Lakki Marwat district on Monday, according to sources.

The injured soldiers were taken to the district headquarters hospital at Tajazai and later moved to the Combined Military Hospital in Bannu.
