PESHAWAR: The district administration has established 11 heat response units aimed at providing immediate assistance to people to protect them from heatstroke.
A statement issued from the Peshawar’s deputy commissioner’s office said the step was taken in the wake of severe heat wave in the provincial capital.
According to the statement, DC Sarmad Saleem Akram also inaugurated a similar unit at Qayum Stadium. He said the units were equipped with emergency response, first aid and other important items, which could help prevent heatstroke.
“Citizens are requested to avoid unnecessary travel and must contact the nearby heat response unit of Rescue 1122,” the statement quoted the deputy commissioner as saying.
