LAHORE: Multan police on Thursday arrested two suspects, including a doctor, involved in alleged rape cases in different areas of the city.

In the first incident, an intermediate student, who wanted to prepare for medical entry test, was raped allegedly by a doctor in Gulgashat.

A resident of Timber Market lodged a complaint with the women police station stating that she was in contact with ‘H’ on social media platform Snapchat and later developed friendship with him.

She said that she wanted to prepare for entry test and the suspect asked her to visit him and he would arrange her admission in a renowned academy.

She said she went to meet him who took her to a house in Gulgashat. The suspect first tried to be physical with her and she stopped him but the suspect got enraged and tortured her. “I raised a hue and cry but no one listened to her and the suspect raped her,” she alleged.

Women police station conducted medical examination of the victim girl, registered a case and arrested the suspect who is a doctor.

In another incident, a man was arrested by New Multan police allegedly for raping his mother-in-law.

New Multan police received a complaint from a woman from Mardanpur. She alleged that she was visiting her daughter at Al Kareem Town and was staying there from some days.

She said her daughter along with a neighbour went to the market to buy clothes and she was alone at her house when her son-in-law ‘W’ approached there.

She said the children were also not present at home and her son-in-law allegedly raped her. She said the suspect was raping her when her daughter approached there and her son-in-law managed his escape.

Police have registered a rape case against the suspect and arrested him.

Multan City Police Officer Sadiq Ali Dogar said suspects in both cases were arrested.

Further investigation is under way.
