HARIPUR: Seven people were killed in separate incidents here during Eid days.

Police and hospital sources said on Monday that three people lost life after drowning in water bodies, while three died from firearm injuries.

A woman reportedly ended her life by jumping into a well.

Police quoted witnesses as saying that four teenage friends were bathing in the Tarbela Dam near Chakhaee village when they slipped into deep water and drowned. The local divers rescued two of them but the remaining two were found dead three hours later.

The deceased were identified as Arsalan, 13, and Ahmad, 14.

In another incident, Mohammad Shafique, a 24-year-old resident of Siribang village, drowned in Noori waterfall.

His body was recovered by the divers in two hours.

Meanwhile, a newlywed couple was found dead in their house.

The police identified the deceased as Hasan Ali alias Hasni, a 26-year-old resident of Tofkiyan village in Khanpur, and his wife, Sadaf Bibi, 19.

They got married around six months ago.

The police said the newlyweds were in their bedroom when the family heard gunshots and found them to be lying in the pool of blood. They were shifted to the tehsil headquarters hospital but the doctors pronounced them dead.

Police said that the circumstantial evidence showed that the man killed his wife before ending his life.

Hospital sources said the woman suffered two bullet shots, while a single shot in the head caused the death of her husband.

Police said that the investigation into the case was under way.

The same evening, two friends from Buttri village quarrelled, leading to the murder of one.

Police said Masood Khan from the same village opened fire at Daniyal Khan, injuring him critically.

The injured was shifted to the trauma centre but doctors referred him to the Ayub Medical Complex in Abbottabad. He succumbed to wounds on the way to the complex.

Police claimed to have arrested the alleged killer.

They also said on Monday afternoon, the body of a woman, later identified as Irum Bibi, 45, was recovered from a well in Chechiyan village.

Police insisted that the woman ended her life by jumping into the well.
