BAJAUR: Residents of many areas of Bajaur district celebrated Eidul Azha on Friday to follow Saudi Arabia as usual.

Local residents told Dawn that War Mamond, Nawagai, Salarzai and Lowi Mamund tehsil were the areas where most people celebrated Eidul Azha.

According to reports, people of some parts of Khar tehsil, including Inayat Kallay, Bai China, Haji Lawang and Yousafabad also celebrated the festival with Saudi Arabia.

The reports said people also offered Eid prayers and sacrificed animals.

However, people of rest of the district will celebrate the festival today (Saturday).

Meanwhile, the police on Friday finalised security plan for peaceful passage of Eidul Azha.

In a statement, the police said besides deployment of scores of additional police personnel in major bazars and crowded places from Friday, at least two police officials would be performing their duties outside the major mosques and Eidgahs on the Eid day.

The statement said that more than 1,800 policemen have been assigned duties to avoid any unpleasant incident in the district during the Eid days.

Also, local authorities are distributing biodegradable bags among the people for the safe disposal of animal waste.

According to a statement issued here on Friday, thousands of biodegradable bags were distributed among residents during the distribution campaign launched by tehsil municipal administrations of Khar and Nawagai launched a couple of days ago.

The statement said officials of both the TMAs and district administration informed the residents about the safe and healthy disposal of offal.

The statement said the Khar and Nawagai TMAs had established waste collection points.
