SOUTH WAZIRISTAN: Six people, including a passerby, were injured during an exchange of fire between two rival tribes over a land dispute in the Ghundak area of Birmal tehsil on Tuesday night.

Sources said that the violent confrontation broke out between the Sarkikhel and Jikhel/Darikhel tribes. The injured individuals were rushed to the District Headquarters Hospital in Wana, where they are currently receiving medical treatment.

District police officer Khankhel confirmed the incident and said that law enforcement was actively monitoring the situation and maintaining contact with both parties in an effort to prevent further bloodshed.

“The land dispute has a long and tragic history, with numerous casualties reported in past years,” he said. “We are committed to resolving the issue through peaceful means in coordination with tribal elders and a jirga.”
