BAHAWALPUR: The man who allegedly killed his sister-in-law and injured his wife as well as himself escaped from police custody and allegedly died by jumping off the roof of Nishtar Hospital’s emergency ward.

According to police sources, Waseem scuffled with his sister–in-law and killed her over a family dispute in Qasim Bela of Multan’s Cantt Police Station. Later, he attempted to kill his wife and tried to commit suicide.

Police arrested him and shifted him to the Nishtar Hospital in serious condition. Due to a windstorm and power shutdown the other day, Waseem escaped from custody. Later at dawn, police spotted his body in the plot of the hospital.

The police claimed that Waseem, in a bid to escape from custody, jumped from the ward roof and died.

The police high-ups suspended three police officials, including Inspector Arshad, Sub-Inspector Asghar and a constable, for their negligence.
