RAWALPINDI: After exchange of gunfire between the police and suspected drug traffickers, murderers, kidnappers, in Rawat area, one was killed and his two accomplices were injured and arrested by the police.
Police raids were under way to arrest the other accomplices of the gang who escaped during the two-hour-long encounter.
A police spokesman said that as the police team conducted a raid to arrest the suspects in the Bangyal area of Rawat police station they retaliated and opened fire on the police.
During the firing, a highly dangerous and wanted suspect, Wahid alias Wahidi, involved in drug trafficking, murder, kidnapping and extortion, was killed, while two accomplices of the deceased were arrested in an injured condition.
The other accomplices managed to escape.
He said that the suspects continued to open fire on the police party for about two hours. The deceased suspect, Wahid alias Wahidi, was wanted by the police in murder, kidnapping, drug trafficking and dozens of other cases and crimes.
The deceased had kidnapped three people, including a woman, a few weeks ago and also made an indecent video viral. Rawat police and elite commandos led by SP Sadar division carried out the operation against the suspect.
Police teams led by SSP Operations had been working for the past several weeks to arrest Wahid alias Wahidi, said the spokesman adding that the suspects had previously opened fire on the raiding party that was going to arrest Wahid alias Wahidi.
CPO Syed Khalid Hamdani congratulated the police team and elite force for fighting bravely despite the continuous firing by the suspects.
