LAHORE: British High Commissioner Jane Marriott says there is a huge potential for collaboration in information technology (IT) between the UK and Pakistan.

She was speaking with the top executives of a Pakistani technology company, Abacus, at its Lahore BPO offices.

“Both the UK and Pakistan’s IT sectors are powerhouses of talent and innovation. There is huge potential to be found in tech collaboration. Strong UK-Pakistan partnerships can reap benefits for both countries,” she observed.

Abacus CEO Fatima Asad-Said termed the British High Commission’s visit a reaffirmation of the ‘strategic importance of the UK as a pivotal market’ for her firm.

“We are poised to scale our impact through partnerships that leverage British expertise and Pakistan’s tech prowess. We appreciate the high commissioner’s proactive engagement and look forward to translating these discussions into impactful collaborations,” she added.

The discussions between the British diplomats and the company executives focused on innovation, skill development and cross-border growth opportunities for expanding IT and technology partnerships. The visit aimed at underscoring the shared ambitions to deepen technology collaboration and economic ties between the UK and Pakistan.
