CHAKWAL: Three dacoits deprived several commuters of cash and mobile phones on Friday night.

The incidents occurred near Dhoke Ban Ameer Khatoon village in the jurisdiction of Dohman police station.

According to the first information report registered at Dohman police station, the complainant Atif Shahzad stated that he along with his four friends were on their way to Dhoke Ban Ameer Khatoon village for buying sacrificial goats. As they reached near the village they were ambushed by three highwaymen.

The robbers snatched six mobile phones and Rs180,000 from them.

After looting them, the highwaymen made them sit in front of their vehicle.

In the meantime, two more persons, Arbab Malik and Abdullah, both residents of Dhoke Ban Ameer Khatoon reached there on a tractor trolley.

The dacoits also deprived both of their mobile phones and made them sit along with the five men.

Shortly after another man named Sajjad from the same village reached there on a motorbike.

The bandits also deprived him of Rs100,000 and a mobile phone and made him sit with the other men.

Two more persons, Rizwan Asghar and Sajjad Ali, reached there on a rickshaw.

The dacoits snatched two mobile phones and Rs17,000 from them and also made them sit along with the other men.

Later another man identified as Dr Ansar Mehmood from Dhoke Tahlian village reached there in his car. He too was deprived of Rs70,000 and a mobile phone.

“After looting us all, the highwaymen ordered us to go straight on our vehicles otherwise they would shoot us,” the complainant said.

When contacted, Additional SHO Mohammad Akram said that efforts were under way to trace the dacoits.

“We will arrest them soon,” he vowed.
