CHARSADDA: Nadia Gulzar Khan, the sister of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf MNA Shandana Gulzar, has alleged that her ex-husband Adam Ali Khan, with the connivance of senior government officials, is “obstructing her access to the land she was granted as dower”.

“Senior government and police officers and a local PTI MNA are consistently interfering in this matter to deny me the legitimate right to the land,” Ms Gulzar told a news conference here on Friday.

She insisted that her haq mehr (dower amount) included 20 jaribs of land in Janabad and Nowshera, and two kanals of land in Hayatabad, but despite being divorced three years ago, she had not been given the land.

The woman added that she took the matter to the court and won the case, with evidence to support her claims.

“I reached out to my father’s longtime friend and former provincial minister Bashir Khan Umarzai, who supported me in line with Pakhtun traditions and said they would proceed further after the land is legally cleared,” she said.

Ms Gulzar said after legal clearance, she sold the land to Afzal Bashir Khan Umarzai, son of Bashir Khan Umarzai.

She, however, said when Afzal and his associates went to the property, her former husband, Adam Ali Khan, and his aides allegedly opened fire on them, killing two of Afzal’s close friends, Imad and Farhan.

The woman said that under pressure from a senior bureaucrat, who was a business partner of her ex-husband, police officers and PTI MNA, the police falsely named her in the FIR, falsely accusing her of inciting Afzal Bashir Khan to open fire.

She alleged that the senior bureaucrat was using his position to influence revenue cases against her and had been misusing his office for years.

Ms Gulzar also accused the PTI MNA of interfering with the police’s investigation.
