SUKKUR: The Sukkur bench of Sindh High Court has retained the stay order granted on the recruitment of constables in the police department and sought the complete record pertaining to candidates’ tests and results.

The bench was seized with the petitions filed by several candidates who were failed in interviews despite having passed the test in flying colours.

The bench comprising Justice Zulfiqar Ali Sangi and Justice Abdul Hamid Bhurgari asked the police recruitment committee chairman at Sukkur and DIG of Shaheed Benazirabad district to produce the complete record of tests and results before it at 11am on Friday (May 23).

The tests were conducted by the Sukkur IBA.

Former Sukkur SSP Amjad Sheikh appeared before the bench when it took up the matter on Thursday. Lawyers for the petitioners, Shabbir Shar, Sohail Ahmed Khoso, Athar Abro, Shabbir Ali Bozdar, Ejaz Sapra and others, also attended the hearing.

In their separate petitions, the candidates from Sukkur division submitted in court that they were declared ‘fail’ after interviews even after passing the test with 50pc to 80pc marks. On the other hand, they informed the bench, the candidates who could obtain below 50pc marks and even as low as 34pc were declared ‘pass’ after the interviews.
