LAHORE: Pakistan Railways’ Lahore division continues to cancel the departure of various express trains from Lahore to various destinations, mainly Karachi, either on technical grounds or due to low occupancy and reservation for the last many days.

According to official sources, the ongoing hot spell is said to be the main reason behind cancellation of various express trains, as a small number of passengers is booking seats these days, on-line or manually.

The departure of trains being cancelled include 34-down Business Express and 44-down Shah Hussain Express for last many days. Similarly, the departure of Karakoram Express was also cancelled a couple of time, recently.

“When there are no passengers due to the hot weather, we have no option but to accommodate the passengers of the trains being cancelled in other trains,” the PR spokesman told Dawn on Sunday, hoping the situation would improve subject to improvement in the weather conditions.

LDP: Punjab Local Government Minister Zeeshan Rafiq said at a media briefing on Lahore Development Programme (LDP) that the initiative would significantly improve the beauty of the city.
