KARACHI: The Sindh government has announced plans to establish a mini-truck assembly line in Karachi in collaboration with China, marking a significant step in Pakistan-China industrial partnership.

Senior Sindh Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon highlighted that Chinese investors have agreed to set up the plant, with efforts to establish electric vehicle charging stations across Sindh.

The unveiling ceremony of the super mini truck took place in Bozhou, China, attended by prominent figures including Sindh ministers Memon and Syed Nasir Hussain Shah.

The Super Mini Truck, developed with Chery Holding and Pedi Technology, is designed to address logistics challenges in urban and rural areas, offering a sustainable transport solution.

Mr Memon emphasised the project’s potential to boost industrial development, promote local component manufacturing, create jobs, and facilitate technology transfer in Pakistan.

He noted that these initiatives will benefit business groups and individuals, with the assembly line in Karachi set to transform the city into a regional hub for automobile manufacturing.

The Sindh government pledges support through regulatory facilitation and infrastructure development.

A key feature of the super mini truck is its capability to convert into a super mini car, showcasing an innovative approach to meet Pakistan “s demand for light commercial vehicles.
