KOHAT: Seven inmates suffered injuries when police resorted to a baton charge after reported hooliganism inside the jail on Thursday.

The jail administration had called regular police to quell the riots after two groups started fighting over some dispute.

Deputy commissioner Abdul Akram and MPA Dawood Afridi visited the jail on Friday and ordered inquiry into the incident. They said action would be taken against those involved in the hooliganism inside the jail.

Sources said that that action would also be taken if the jail superintendent was found involved in suspected activities in the prison.

A few months ago, the police had arrested a constable selling ice drug to the inmates.
