RAWALPINDI: Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education (BISE) Rawalpindi on Wednesday penalised 30 female students during a practical examination and confiscated the mobile phone of the examiner while dismissing him from exam duty.
BISE Rawalpindi Spokesman Arslan Cheema said that Controller Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan visited the examination centres of Government Associate College for Women, F-Block, Government Boys High School, Syedpur Road and Government MC Girls High School Rawalpindi.
The practical lab of Government MC Girls High School, B-Block, was checked, where the practical examiner was found allegedly violating SOPs.
After an initial investigation, the practical of 30 students was cancelled and the mobile phone of the examiner concerned was seized on the spot for further investigation and sent to the discipline branch of the board.
The practical examiner was immediately dismissed from duty and a new practical examiner was appointed, he said.
The controller of examinations brought the full report of the incident to the notice of the chairman of the board, who took the matter seriously and sent a letter to the School Education Department for action under the Peda Act.
Chairman Muhammad Adnan Khan and Controller of Examinations Tanveer Asghar Awan made it clear that the board will not tolerate corruption or violation of rules and strict measures will continue to be taken to ensure transparency, the spokesperson said.
Mr Cheema said that BISE officials also conducted a surprise inspection of various examination centres, with the aim of ensuring transparency and discipline in the examination process.
He said that the transparency of examinations has improved significantly through modern technology and the online monitoring system and all examination centres were being kept under constant surveillance by the central monitoring cell.
He said that the board has adopted a coordinated strategy against cheating, which is yielding positive results.
“Strict action is being taken against such elements with the cooperation of law enforcement agencies,” he said.
