RAWALPINDI: After 16 days of strike by the Young Doctors Association (YDA) Rawalpindi chapter and boycott of outdoor patients department (OPDs), the strike ended with an announcement, and doctors resumed their duties on Thursday.
Young Doctors, nurses, and paramedical staff were on strike against the Punjab government’s proposed plan to outsource the public sector hospitals across the province.
YDA Rawalpindi Chapter President Dr Aarif Aziz said that young doctors in Holy Family Hospital, Benazir Bhutto Hospital, and Rawalpindi Teaching Hospital ended the strike unconditionally in view of the situation in the country.
“We hope that in view of this goodwill gesture, the Punjab government will accept our demands and the terminated doctors will be reinstated immediately,” he said.
He said that the Young Doctors have expressed their determination to participate actively in every emergency situation voluntarily.
In the event of an emergency alert, the situation will be jointly managed with the hospital administration.
