Several Indian news outlets have reported that power was cut off for 15 minutes in parts of New Delhi, including the area housing the parliament and India Gate, as part of an emergency readiness drill.

According to The Print, “A day after mock drills were held in parts of the country, multiple cities in India prepared for blackout period.”

Meanwhile, The Wire reported that people were preparing for a 15-minute blackout in the New Delhi Municipal Council area.

“As a preparatory measure, there will be a power blackout in New Delhi Municipal Council (NDMC) area today from 8pm to 8pm under civil mock drill measures. All the residents are requested to please cooperate and bear with the situation,” The Wire reported.

Separately, The Indian Express also reported on the drills in the Indian capital.

“As a preparatory measure, there will be a power blackout in the NDMC area today during 8pm to 8:15pm under civil mock drill measures,” The Express reported, quoting an NDMC statement from earlier today.
