KARACHI, May 4: A man along with his sister were detained by police on Thursday for allegedly killing his wife with the help of his sister in Nazimabad.

Police said that according to Haider Mian his wife Naureen died at around 2am in the morning. He kept the body at the Edhi morgue declaring that his wife died a natural death. Shortly afterward, when women members of the family rushed to the morgue they found some marks on the body.

They informed police and the body was sent to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for postmortem examination.

Police said the autopsy showed that the victim was subjected to torture. However, the cause of death was reserved and samples were sent for chemical examination.

Police said following the postmortem report, they detained the dead woman’s husband and his sister for their suspected involvement in the death of Naureen. Police said that hardly six months had passed since their marriage.

Furether investigations were being carried out, police said.

ACCIDENTS: At least two persons died in separate road accidents in different parts of the city on Thursday.

Police said that a speeding truck dashed into a stationary minibus on the Super Highway. As a result, the truck driver identified as Mohammad Juman died on the spot while two persons present in the minibus were injured. They were taken to the Abbasi Shaheed Hospital for treatment.

In another accident, a speeding minibus knocked down an elderly man in the Site area on Thursday. The victim was identified as Farooq, 60. He was taken to a nearby private hospital where he was pronounced dead by the doctors.

Police said the minibus drove away after the accident.

ARRESTED: Police arrested two suspected robbers of a passenger coach near Karimabad. Their third accomplice was arrested after a shootout later in the night.

The DSP of Azizabad said three armed suspects were looting Shama coach near Karimabad. The driver, Anwer Feroz,. stopped the coach near Jamaatkhana. The suspects got off the vehicle and started running away.
