ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan Federal Union of Journalists (PFUJ) on Monday expressed concern over threats issued to journalists by supporters of a religious party.

In a joint statement, PFUJ President Afzal Butt and Secretary General Arshad Ansari expressed grave concern over the trolling and threats issued to prominent broadcast journalists.

“We urge the Sindh and federal governments to provide immediate safety and security to the anchors and media personnel, as it is their constitutional responsibility,” the statement read.

PFUJ demanded that the authorities take concrete actions to protect journalists and ensure a safe working environment.

“The union stands in solidarity with the broadcasters and will continue to advocate for the rights of all journalists to report without fear of reprisal.”
