LAKKI MARWAT: A Frontier Corps soldier was shot dead in the Lawangkhel area of Lakki Marwat district on Sunday, the police said.

They said that the murder took place on a rural road near a brick kiln and the attackers also took away the motorcycle of the slain soldier, identified as Attaullah.

They said that the deceased had come to the village on two months leave, and on the day of occurrence, he was set to leave the area to rejoin his duties.

Jameel Khan, father of the deceased soldier, told the police that on the expiry of leave, his son left his house on a motorcycle to Tajazai town from where he was to embark upon a journey to Karachi in a public transport bus.

He said that he was busy with the wheat harvest when someone informed him that the body of his son was lying on the Lawangkhel Road near a brick kiln. The complainant told the police that he along with relatives reached the venue where he found the body of Attaullah lying in a pool of blood.

The police said that the body was handed over to relatives after fulfilling medico-legal formalities at the District Headquarters Hospital, Tajazai.

They said that they had registered a case against the unknown killer(s) under relevant sections of law in the Ghaznikhel police station and began an investigation.
