TAXILA: The local administration in Taxila busted a synthetic milk production plant during a pre-dawn raid, where chemicals were mixed with water to produce milk, official sources said.

Toxic substances, mixing machines, hazardous chemicals, vegetable oil and polluted water were seized and six individuals allegedly involved in producing the harmful fake milk were arrested.

Legal action is being pursued against them.

A team from the local administration, led by Assistant Commissioner Zaryab Sajid Kamboh, raided the plant located in Street 10, Asifabad, within the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar police station, where synthetic and fake dairy products were being manufactured.

According to official sources, the unit was producing 1,000 litres of milk using 150 kilograms of chemicals, including toxic substances, washing powder, substandard vegetable oil and contaminated water.

Sources added that fake milk production network had been operating for a long time, supplying impure milk to various areas of Taxila and Wah.

The milk was being sold to domestic consumers, milk shops, tea stalls and hotels, falsely labelled as “fresh milk from the area”.

On this occasion, the authorities destroyed hundreds of litres of chemically laced milk.

Speaking to media, Assistant Commissioner Zaryab Sajid Kamboh said the authorities would not tolerate actions that endanger public health.

He stated that the implementation of the Punjab Pure Food Regulations would be strictly ensured.

He emphasised that the use of substandard or adulterated milk poses serious health risks.
