LAHORE: The Qila Gujjar Singh police arrested famous TikToker Khashif Zameer from Murree on multiple charges, including humiliating the police uniform and sections Prevention of Electronic Crimes Act (Peca).

The arrest followed a case lodged against the suspect on the complaint of a man, Qadir Ali, who alleged that Kashif Zameer had committed multiple violations at a wedding ceremony held here in the city.

While presenting a video clip of the incident, he said, a police constable, Khurram Shahzad, was holding a tray, containing Pakistani currency notes and the TikToker was showering them on the guests of the ceremony. The complainant said the police constable was wearing the official uniform at that time and the video was uploaded on social media, alleging that the act harmed the dignity and respect of the police uniform.

The matter drew strong criticism against the police high-ups on the social media, giving an impression that the controversial TikToker had strong links in the police hierarchy.

As per the FIR, Kashif Zameer committed another offence when he got the original video edited using AI, showing that the police constable was ‘wearing salwar kameez’ at that time and uploaded the same again on social media.

The police high-ups got the edited video clip analysed by the forensic experts and then declared it a fake, saying the TikToker had made a deliberate attempt to mislead the law enforcement agencies.

The FIR alleged that the constable had already undergone a departmental inquiry where he confirmed the first video was the original one and he was wearing the uniform when the TikToker was showering the currency notes in the wedding ceremony.

In the light of the findings of the inquiry report, the police high-ups had lodged a case against the constable under Police Order 2002.

A police official said Kashif Zameer was hiding in Murree to avoid arrest after the registration of the case by the Qila Gujjar Singh Police. He said the suspect had been handed over to the cybercrime unit of the police for further investigations.
