LAHORE: A sessions court has sentenced a man to death for murder of a stage dancer.Iqbal Town police had registered a case under Section 302 in 2022 against Waris Ali alias Dana.

Announcing the guilty verdict, Additional Sessions Judge Chaudhry Shahid Hameed on Monday handed down death penalty to the accused. He also imposed a fine of Rs500,000 on the convict.

According to the prosecution, Waris Ali had shot dead Shazia, a stage performer, and injured her two sisters. The motive behind the crime was a monetary dispute.

Deputy District Public Prosecutor Sajid Saeed Bhatti presented evidence and argued the case against the accused.

The prosecution maintained that conclusive evidence existed against the accused with 18 witnesses testifying against him.
