KARACHI, May 2: Sindh Chief Minister Dr Arbab Ghulam Rahim on Tuesday expressed his displeasure over road construction work in the province. Speaking at a high-level meeting in the Chief Minister's House here, he said if uplift funds are utilized prudently, the work of road construction could be executed in a better way.

The meeting reviewed the matter of special grant of Rs 250 million by the federal government to construct eight farm-to-market roads in eight less-developed districts of Sindh.

Dr Arbab asked the Sindh Planning and Development Department to form PC-1 of these eight farm-to-market roads. He said his government was giving special attention to the construction and repair of roads. He said the government was striving to complete the construction and repair of farm-to-market roads in all districts of the Sindh, especially the less-developed ones.

He said that special cells for planning and development would be set up in the irrigation and highways departments to prepare feasibility of uplift projects.

He asked to arrange briefings of various departments of Sindh so that their suggestions could be incorporated in the next budget.

Provincial Adviser for Finance M A Jalil, Chief Secretary Fazalur Rehman, Additional Chief Secretary (Development) Ghulam Sarwar Khero, Secretary Finance Malik Israr Ahmed and others were also present.
