GUJRAT: Two brothers were shot dead and wife of one of them was injured when unidentified motorcyclists opened fire on their car in Ghazi Khokhar locality in the city suburbs, in Saddar police precincts on Sunday.

As per police sources, Ahsan (45), his brother Muhammad Hussain (50) and Ahsan’s wife Nasreen Bibi (40), were returning home from somewhere by their car when at least six unidentified armed men riding two motorcycles intercepted them on University Road.

The assailants opened indiscriminate fire on the car, resulting in instant death of both brothers and bullet injuries to the woman. The attackers fled after firing.

On being informed of the incident, Rescue 1122 and police teams reached the spot and shifted the bodies and the injured woman to the Aziz Bhatti Shaheed Teaching Hospital (ABSTH), where the condition of Nasreen Bibi was said to be stable.

A team of Punjab Forensic Science Agency (PFSA) also reached the spot and collected forensic evidence from the crime scene.

As per police, initial investigation shows that old enmity may be the motive behind the double murder. As further investigation was underway, police were yet to register the case.

A spokesman for Gujrat police says District Police Officer (DPO) Dr Mustanser Atta Bajwa took notice of the incident and directed the police to trace and arrest the killers.
