Stage actress gang-raped in Sadiqabad

RAHIM YAR KHAN: A stage actress was gang-raped by four suspects near Nishtar Chowk, Sadiqabad on Friday.

The Rescue 1122 sources said that according to the caller, four suspects called the 30-year-old actress, a resident of Arain Colony, to a theatre for a dance performance where they forced her to drink liquor at gunpoint. Later, they all gang-raped her.

Rescue personnel shifted the victim to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Sadiqabad.

The police spokesperson said the district police officer had taken notice of the incident.

He said the dancer was getting treatment in the hospital and she was not in her senses. When her health would be revived, police would complete the legal process on her statement, he added.

FIRE: Three persons were burnt and dozens of furniture shops in the timber market along main railway track were damaged in a fire at a petroleum agency in Khanpur on Thursday.

According to Rescue 1122, the fire started after 10:45pm and spread in the furniture market.

Due to the high intensity of the fire, Rescue 1122 also called the firefighters from the whole district.

Two men and a minor girl who received burns in the incident were shifted to THQ Hospital, Khanpur.

The firefighters started the operation which continued till 11.30pm and theycontrolled the blaze completely by 11:43pm. Due to high flames of the fire, both passenger and goods trains were halted outside the Khanpur Railway Station for an hour.

On the other hand, Deputy Commissioner Khurram Parvez on Friday formed special teams, comprising assistant commissioners, DO Industries, representatives of civil defence, special branch and the SHO concerned for action against the illegal petroleum agencies/units and LPG decanting businesses in the district and appointed ADCG Irfan Anwer as the focal person.
