ISLAMABAD: The national duo of Nadir Mirza and Mikael Ali Baig advance into the Zainab Ali Naqvi Memorial ITF World Junior Championship doubles final here at the PTF Complex on Thursday.
Nadir and Mikael booked the final spot when their opponent Kazakhstan’s Platon Kovalyov — partnering Pakistan’s Shehryar Anees — retired while being 3-0 down in the first set.
The other doubles semi-final had an identical outcome, as Abubakar Talha and Luke Jie Xi Ho of Singapore downed the team of Russia’s Alexey Ryabov and Turkiye’s Yildiz Yagiz 3-0, when Yagiz retired.
The girls’ semi-final saw Saudia Arab’s Hania Amna Minhas defeating Yelizaveta Slepchenko of Kazakhstan 6-0, 6-3 to book the final date with Alissa Korolyova, also from Kazakhstan. Korolyova brushed aside Nana Okawa of Japan 6-2, 6-2.
