QUETTA: The Public Health Engineering Department has restored drinking water supply in the provincial capital after reactivating and repairing 50 water filtration plants and efforts are underway to reactivate similar plants across the province in phases to provide clean drinking water to the people.

Public Health Engineering Secretary Imran Gichki said on Thursday that providing clean drinking water to the people is the government’s responsibility and efforts are being made to fulfil this duty.

He said that water filtration plants in Duki, Pishin, Loralai and Kachhi are being reactivated and they will be become fully operational by April 30.

The consumption of contaminated water has led to a significant rise in diseases affecting heart, stomach, liver, lungs and skin of the masses in the province.
