OKARA: The Renala additional district and sessions judge (ADSJ) sentenced on Monday a man to 15 years in prison and imposed a fine of R500,000 for raping a woman, an incident that later went viral on social media.

In March 2024, Renala Saddar police registered a case against Yasin of Jambowala, Arifwala tehsil, on a complaint by survivor’s brother. The rape took place in Village K Plot, Renala, and a video of the incident circulated widely on social media.

ADSJ Raja Shabraiz Akhtar also announced an additional six-month imprisonment in case of non-payment of the fine.

WORKSHOP: A three-day training workshop for police officials concluded at the Community Liaison Centre in the district police office.

The final session focused on enhancing the skills of the Narcotics Investigation Unit in handling drug-related cases. Deputy Public Prosecutor Syed Salman Haider and DSP (Legal) Kaleem Ullah delivered lectures, covering the entire investigative process — from case registration to trial verdicts.
