Who doesn’t love unicorns? Though a mythical creature, it holds immense love and appreciation in the hearts of most kids, especially girls. So, I thought — why not come up with something that is not only useful, but also stays in sight every time you use it?

And that’s how I came up with a unicorn pencil topper, so all of you who love unicorns can enjoy writing even more! And yes, it’s very easy to create, but little kids will need the help of an adult if using hot glue.

Things you need:

  1. White foam sheet

  2. Pieces of foam sheet (pink, yellow, green and purple)

  3. Piece of golden glitter paper, if you don’t have one, you can use yellow

  4. Scissors

  5. Hot glue or you can use white glue

Directions:

  1. Cut a 1.5-inch-wide, 5-inch-long strip of white foam sheet and roll it around the bottom (eraser side) of the pencil (this is the head of the unicorn); see pictures 2, 3 and 4.

  2. Cut out small oval-shaped pieces (ear-shaped) from both the white and pink foam sheets. Paste the pink piece over the white one; picture 5.

  3. Paste the ears on top of the head on the pencil, positioning them correctly, picture 6.

  4. Cut a small wavy piece in the shape of a horn from the golden or yellow foam sheet, then paste it in the middle of both ears; pictures 7 and 8.

  5. To make the unicorn’s forehead hair, choose three or four colours. Cut one-inch pieces from each colour in a wavy shape; picture 9.

  6. Paste all the pieces together, then glue them in the middle of the unicorn’s head. Use a black marker to draw the eyebrows, picture 10.

  7. Blush the cheeks with pink colour, and your unicorn pencil topper is complete! Picture 11.

    Isn’t it cute?
