KARACHI: A sessions court has allowed an investigating officer (IO) to obtain details of 12 bank accounts of an actor held in a drugs case.

IO Syed Ghous Hakim submitted an application before the additional district and sessions judge (South), seeking permission to obtain details of 12 bank accounts’ statements of actor Sahir Hassan.

In the application, the IO mentioned that the suspect was allegedly involved in supplying weed and, during interrogation, he allegedly disclosed that he imported drugs through two private courier services.

He further informed the court that the suspect used to transfer drug money into 12 alleged bank accounts, details of which were recovered from his cell phone.

He requested the court to direct the banks concerned to provide information regarding these accounts.

After examining the application, the court allowed the request and permitted him to obtain statements of the bank accounts and complete details of the accounts as required.

It is pertinent to mention that the suspect had filed a bail petition before the Sindh High Court, where notices were issued for March 12.

According to the FIR, Inspector of Special Investigation Unit (SIU) Aftab Abbasi, complainant, stated that on February 22, he, along with his subordinate policemen, was searching for a proclaimed offender wanted in a terrorism case.

He further mentioned that upon reaching the jurisdiction of the Gizri police station, he received information from his sources about an individual involved in drug peddling, who supplies narcotics to posh areas of Karachi.

The informer revealed that the suspect was currently present in Khayaban-i-Rahat, Phase 6, to deliver weed.

Acting on that tip-off, the SIU team raided the location and apprehended Syed Sahir Hassan. Upon searching him, the police allegedly recovered five packets of weed — weighing over 500 grams — from his hand-carry bag, which were sealed in airtight packaging.

During the initial investigation, the suspect allegedly disclosed to the police that he procured weed from drug peddlers Bazil and Yahya and sells it in posh areas of the metropolis.
