HARIPUR, April 27: Two people were killed in two separate incidents in the jurisdiction of two police stations here on Thursday.

In the first incident, the Saddar police quoted one Ishrat Bibi, w/o Khalid Mehmood, of the Phrahal village as saying that she had an altercation with her sister-in-law and wife of her husband’s brother on Wednesday morning and they beat her severely.

In the evening when her husband Khalid, a rickshaw driver, came home she informed him about the incident. When Khalid complained to his father regarding the treatment meted out to her, his younger brother Arshad started quarrelling with him and stabbed him in the stomach, injuring him critically.

Khalid was taken to the DHQ Hospital Haripur where he bled to death before getting any first aid, the complainant told police.

The police have registered a case against Arshad under section 302 PPC.

In the second incident, which took place in the Kakotri village, some 36 km from the Khalabat township, one Sultan Mohammad and his family members were fast asleep when three masked men tiptoed into his house. Sultan opened fire with a 30-bore pistol killing one of the intruders while the remaining two managed to escape.

The man killed was later identified as Dilshad who ran a Public Call Office at the village.
