It was a dark, gloomy day. The clouds loomed over the city, and not a single bird graced the sky. The clamour of traffic and the stench of pollution cast a shadow over everyone’s spirits, and the bitter cold air sent only a few people scurrying through the streets. For Soha, this was just a typical winter day in Stonebrook.

Soha was a bright girl with a deep appreciation for nature and longing for her city to bloom. One day, Soha stumbled across a dark, murky alleyway. Due to her curious nature, she decided to explore this surreal place. After taking just a few steps, she tripped upon a small object. On sitting up, Soha found a tiny seed lying on the ground. Excited to nurture it, Soha took the seed along with her.

The next day, the sun was finally visible so Soha took this mellow, bright sunshine as an opportunity and went to work on planting the seed.

Days passed rapidly, but no shoots were seen sprouting from the soil where she had planted the seed. Even after three weeks, there was nothing, so Soha started to get impatient.

After a month of anticipated waiting, a little green sprout poked out of the ground and Soha was thrilled to bits. Soha wanted to spread this feeling of jubilation to the other residents of Stonebrook, so Soha used all her savings, energy and supplies to get more seeds to plant and create posters to put around the city, with words such as ‘Clean Earth, green Earth’, ‘Let’s start a green revolution’, etc, on them.

At first, people ignored her, but Soha did not get disheartened and kept on planting seeds. Over time, her determination encouraged others and Soha was very delighted. Accompanied by her close friends, Soha formed a group known as “Nature’s Advocates” and together they started organised awareness campaigns of various environment-friendly and cleanliness initiatives.

After a few months, Stonebrook was unrecognisable from the place it had once been. That dark polluted place was now clean and green. And as for the little seed, it had now turned into a beautiful flowering plant with radiant blooms.

This incident taught Soha a valuable lesson about hard work and that every small action, no matter how insignificant it may be, has the potential to grow and make a difference, just like how that discarded seed blossomed into a gorgeous flowering plant and how even the smallest contribution can lead to meaningful change over time. In front of the plant Soha put a wooden sign that said, “The Symbol of Stonebrook’s Green Transition.”
