Egypt, Qatar and the US have a shared responsibility in pushing for the second phase of the ceasefire in Gaza, Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty told the Qatar News Agency (QNA), Al Jazeera reports.
“The sincere joint efforts made by Egypt and the State of Qatar succeeded last January in reaching a ceasefire agreement in the Gaza Strip, which includes three stages, as the first stage has been implemented so far, while there is now a party trying to evade its obligations,” Abdelatty told QNA.
He added that Israel is also obliged to complete the stages of the ceasefire.
Abdelatty stated that Egypt and Qatar are counting on the US to push for the deal’s completion.
“We succeeded in releasing a number of hostages, and now the effort must continue and the second and third stages must be implemented until the release of all hostages,” the minister said, adding that Palestinian prisoners must also be released and that aid must reach Gaza as well.
