TAXILA: The body of a newborn baby was recovered from a garbage dump adjacent to G.T. Road in Chachi Mohallah area in the jurisdiction of Wah Saddar police station in the early hours of Sunday.

According to police, Rescue 1122 crew responded to a call about the presence of the infant’s body wrapped in a cloth. The rescue officials later shifted the body to the Tehsil Headquarters Hospital, Taxila, for medico-legal formalities.

Police investigators suspect that the baby’s body was discarded by a woman and a case had been registered against her.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, a ten-year-old boy was kidnapped within the jurisdiction of Taxila police station.

Mohammad Shaheer reported to police that his 10-year-old nephew had gone out to play but did not return home. He feared that unknown persons had kidnapped the boy.
