NAWABSHAH: Shaheed Benazirabad antiterrorism court on Monday remanded nine accused in Chotyariyoon murder case in police custody four days.

The accused, Mohammad Sharif Rajar, Obhayo Rajar, Saddam Hussain Rajar, Ahmad Rajar, Khan Rajar, Sadiq Jatoi, Gaaji Rajar, Umaid Ali Jatoi and Mohammad Ali Jatoi were produced in the antiterrorism court amid tight security.

The court granted them four-day remand in police custody and adjourned the proceedings to Feb 28.

The accused were allegedly involved in the murder of Mashooq Junejo, Ali Bux Junejo and Abdul Rasool Junejo, who died in a clash between two groups of Junejo clan in Jani Junejo village near Chotyariyoon, Sanghar district, on Jan 26.

The two groups exchanged fire after their verbal clash over trespassing of cattle into a field spiralled into a full scale armed conflict. Nineteen people on either side had also suffered injuries in the incident.

Later, family members of the victims staged a sit-in at Mirpurkhas Chowk in Sanghar by keeping the bodies and demanding registration of FIR against PPP MNA Salahuddin aka Allauddin Junejo. The protesters, however, later agreed to withdraw the MNA’s name after intervention of local PPP leaders and ended the sit-in after four days.
