Khannuana bypass Chowk at Faisalabad on Saturday night. A police spokesperson claimed that eight men on three motorcycles opened fire on a policeparty on being signaled to stop.

He said when the police retaliated, the suspects took positions in the bushes along the road and continued firing on the policemen, leaving a Dolphin Constable Asif dead on the spot.

Another policeman, Zahoor Ahmed was injured in the suspects’ firing.

He said after a crossfire, the police found two of the suspects lying dead, while six others managed to flee in the darkness.

The injured policeman had been shifted to the Allied Hospital. The police claimed that the dead outlaws, identified as Bilal and Imran alias Mani, belonged to Gulfam Shah gang, that had shot at and injured a DSP during an encounter in Vehari around a year ago.

MAN DIES: A man died and three others, including two women, were injured critically after their car rammed into a roadside tree on Tandlianwala-Okara road near Chak 412-GB at Faisalabad on Sunday.

Reports said Danish Rahman (26) of Aminpur Bangla, along withBilal Sultan (25) of Toba, his wife Amna Bibi (23) and a relative woman, Robina (40), were going in a car, when a motorcyclist suddenly appeared on the road. In an attempt to save the biker, the driver lost control on the steering and the car rammed into a roadside tree.

As a result, Danish died on the spot while the others were seriously injured. They were shifted to Tandlianwala THQ hospital.
