LAHORE: The annual election of the Lahore High Court Bar Association (LHCBA) for year 2025-26 is being held on Saturday (today) with a one-on-one contest on the president’s slot between the traditional rival groups –Independent and Professional.

This time, instead of four positions, the contest will take place for three posts among seven candidates as the finance secretary has already been elected unopposed.

For the position of president, Asif Niswana of the Hamid Khan-led professional group is competing against Saqib Akram Gondal of the Independent group, also known as Asma Jahangir group.

Mr Gondal is contesting for the second time as he lost his last year’s election by 427 votes.

For the vice president position, Abdul Rehman Ranjha, Haseeb bin Yousaf and Abdul Razzaq Chadhar are in the race. Both Ranjha and Yousaf were unsuccessful in last year’s election.
