TAXILA: A court on Wednesday sentenced a man to life imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs500,000 for sexually assaulting his twelve-year-old niece in her house in the limits of Wah Saddar police station in 2023.

If he failed to pay the fine, the convict will undergo an additional six months jail, the court ruled.

Parents of the victim and public have welcomed the court ruling.

According to the judgment, the convict assaulted his niece when she was alone in her house and fled.

The mother of the girl informed police and registered an FIR at Wah Saddar police station.

When the medical examination of the girl confirmed the rape, the police registered a case against the accused and arrested him.

After listening to arguments from both sides, the judge found the accused guilty of the crime and awarded him life imprisonment.
