KARACHI: A man was shot dead and his son-in-law wounded in Korangi on late Tuesday night, police said on Wednesday.

They added that the deceased, identified as 55-year-old Syed Mateen Khan, was gunned down while Mohammed Kamran, 27, wounded over a “personal dispute” at Sector-51-C, Korangi.

Zaman Town SHO Ateeq Rehman said that the victims were standing outside their home when two suspects riding a motorcycle opened fire on them and fled. Mateen suffered two bullet wounds including one on his chest while Kamran sustained a bullet wound on his leg.

They were initially taken to a nearby hospital in Korangi from where they were referred to the Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre. However, Mateen died on the way.

The officer said it appeared that the deceased was the real target of the suspects. He said the victim had remained associated with a political party in the past. At present, he was doing business of “subsoil water” and also ran a cable network service.

The police had registered an FIR against two unknown suspects on complaint of victim Kamran.

According to its contents, the complainant said he lived with his in-laws and was doing business in the supply of mineral water. They were busy working in the RO plant inside a portion of their home when at 10pm; two suspects riding the motorcycle suddenly appeared there and resorted to firing on them before fleeing. After hearing the gunshots, the family members came out from the home and took them to hospital.
