LAHORE: The Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) on Monday arrested a former Airport Security Force (ASF) official on the charges of human trafficking.

According to the FIA, the suspect, Gulfam, was a former ASF official serving in the Carpool department. He has been found involved in a visa fraud, deceiving innocent citizens with false promises of overseas employment.

It said the suspect, along with his accomplices, defrauded two citizens of Rs4 million each by falsely offering them jobs in Bosnia.

Initially, the victims were sent to Sharjah on a visit visas. The traffickers then forged Bosnian visas on the victims’ passports in collaboration with their associates. “When the victims attempted to travel to Bosnia from Sharjah, they were deported after authorities detected the fake visas,” it said.

Raids are being conducted to apprehend other individuals involved in the network.

FIA Lahore Director Sarfraz Virk said the crackdown on human traffickers was in full swing.
